We’ve been first introduced with The Raft, a prison facility for super-human criminals (predominantly supervillains) in the Marvel Universe located in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean as per Captain America: Civil War, where Falcon, Scarlet Witch, Hawkeye and Ant-Man are held after they help Captain America and Winter Soldier evade capture in violation of the Sokovia Accords.
However, that is not the case. A compilation of deleted scenes from the movie Deadpool shows that The Raft might have been made the cut. In a particular scene entitled, “Prison: The Raft”, a scene which would have probably taken place near the beginning of the film, shows Ajax (aka Francis) being brought back to shore by a boat after spending time in “The Raft Prison.”
In a report from Comicbook.com,that since Deadpool went into production and was released before Civil War, there’s a good shot those associated with the Fox film weren’t even aware that The Raft was going to make an appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Perhaps, they received a heads-up from Marvel Studios before the film was released and were politely asked to cut it. Either way, it’s a neat reference but not a huge loss.
Whichever it may be, it could’ve been a cool move of Fox to bridge Deadpool to the MCU.
