Despite the usual suspense/horror vibe of the trailer, this one is a standout. It doesn’t only lay the story for you to understand the movie— it makes you watch it for more, in this case full-length. It may be hexed, but hell yeah I’ll definitely watch this one.
Based on a true story, “The Conjuring” tells the horrifying tale of how world renowned paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren were called upon to help a family terrorized by a dark presence in a secluded farmhouse. Forced to confront a powerful demonic entity, the Warrens find themselves caught in the most terrifying case of their lives.
“The Conjuring” stars Academy Award nominee Vera Farmiga (“Up in the Air,” “Orphan”) and Patrick Wilson (“Young Adult,” “Prometheus”) as the Warrens, and Ron Livingston (HBO’s “Band of Brothers”) and Lili Taylor (“Public Enemies”) as Roger and Carolyn Perron, residents of the house.
“When Insidious came out and was successful the story about the Warrens came to me and I was like, “Oh my god, this is really cool.” […] But I didn’t just want to make another ghost story or another supernatural film. One thing I had never explored was the chance to tell a story that’s based on real-life characters, real-life people. So those were the things that led me to The Conjuring”, explains James Wan, on his reason for directing The Conjuring.
The film is currently raking up $98,950,004 worldwide as of July 30, 2013.
The Conjuring was released in the United States and Canada on July 19, 2013 and will open across the Philippines on August 21.
